UK output growth accelerates

Output by the chemical industry in the United Kingdom could grow by up to 5% in 2014, says Chemical Industries Association (CIA; London) economist Alan Eastwood. The figure is up from CIA's previous 2014 UK chemical output growth forecast of 2%. "If the UK chemical industry does no more than maintain its first-quarter growth rate, production could increase 5% this year," Eastwood told a press briefing at London yesterday. "That would be the best full-year output growth since 2007." The upgraded forecast reflects a general recovery in the UK...
