U.K. Industry: Further EU Carbon Cuts Will Harm Competitiveness

The U.K. government’s recently announced plans to cut the country’s carbon emissions 50% by 2025, from a baseline year of 1990, would severely damage the U.K. chemical sector, the Chemical Industries Association (CIA; London) says. The government has promised a support package for industry to cope with the proposed regulations, including for chemical companies that make or are developing products designed to mitigate climate change, and says it will unveil detailed plans later this year.
