Ineos: Basic petchems can be made in US at half the cost compared with Europe

Ineos, which is seeking to cut costs at its Grangemouth, UK, operations, says that the production of petrochemicals is much cheaper in the United States compared with Europe. The shale gas revolution in the country has turned the global petrochemical industry inside out, says Tom Crotty, Ineos group director. “Basic petrochemicals can now be made in the United States for about half the cost as in Europe,” he says.
