IHS Chemical: Soda ash demand to grow 34% in next decade, driven by construction, automotive industries

Worldwide demand for soda ash will increase almost 34% during the next decade thanks to the recovering construction and automotive industries, according to The IHS Chemical World Analysis—Soda Ash 2014. Consumption of soda ash is more than 55 million m.t./year and will increase to almost 73 million m.t./year by 2023, the report says. Average annual demand will grow 2.9% worldwide over the next decade, but with large regional differences. China, the world’s largest soda ash producer since 2003, will contribute the biggest increase in demand—5.0%...
