ECHA receives first application for authorization under Reach

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) has received the first application for authorization of a substance under the European Union's Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) regulation, the agency says. The application, made by Rolls-Royce, concerns bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP). The company is applying for authorization of the processing of a formulation containing DEHP during the diffusion bonding and manufacture of fan blades for aircraft engines.
