Dow Chemical Rumored to Bid for Yule Catto

Dow Chemical is rumored to be in talks to acquire specialty chemical maker Yule Catto (Harlow, U.K.), according to a report today by U.K. newspaper The Guardian. Yule Catto declined to comment on the report.   Yule Catto's stock price jumped about 7%, to £2.45/share after the Guardian report said that Dow plans to make an offer of £3.50-£3.70/share. Yule Catto would be valued at more than £1.2 billion ($1.9 billion) if it is acquired for £3.70/share, the report says.
