CropEnergies acquires UK bioethanol producer, increasing capacity 50%

CropEnergies (Mannheim, Germany) has acquired bioethanol producer Ensus (Yarm, UK) from private equity firm The Carlyle Group, CropEnergies has announced. Ensus's bioethanol plant was commissioned at the beginning of 2010. CropEnergies says it will invest more than £50 million ($76.3 million) to improve the competitiveness of Ensus. The acquisition of Ensus was completed on 19 July by a contribution in kind, in return for the issuance of 2.25 million new CropEnergies shares.
