Croda's sales and earnings down, unlikely to match last year's pretax profit

Croda today reported lower second-quarter sales and earnings on weak consumer demand in Europe. Sales were down 5.8%, to £263.4 million ($449.6 million), while adjusted operating profit was 10.7% lower, at £63.6 million. Consumer-care sales were down 7.1%, to £143.4 million; performance technologies 3.2% lower, at £88.5 million; and industrial chemicals’ revenues were down 7.0%, to £31.5 million.
