Syngenta in cellulosic fuel collaboration to increase ethanol plant productivity

Syngenta says it has signed an agreement with Cellulosic Ethanol Technologies, a subsidiary of Quad County Corn Processors (QCCP; Galva, IA), to license its Adding Cellulosic Ethanol (ACE) technology, a new process for ethanol plants. The collaboration will use the new process to make cellulosic ethanol from corn kernel fiber. In combination with Syngenta's proprietary Enogen corn trait, ACE allows the fiber as well as the starch in a corn kernel to be converted into ethanol, Syngenta says.
