Regions :: Western Europe :: Switzerland Strong Swiss Currency and Softening Demand Impact Clariant's Results5:22 AM MDT | July 27, 2011 | Natasha Alperowicz Clariant today reported a drop in second quarter Ebitda and sales, mainly because of the continuing appreciation of the Swiss franc and softening demand compared with the year-ago period. Ebitda before exceptional items was SF241 million ($299.9 million), 9% down on the second quarter of 2010. Ebitda margin slipped from 13.9% in the second quarter of last year to 12.9%. The quarter’s Ebitda margin at constant currencies was 14.3%, however. Second quarter sales, including those generated by Süd-Chemie in May and June, were down 1% at SF1.87 billion...
