Oerlikon acquires Sulzer's Metco unit creating surface solutions leader

Machine and plant engineering firm Oerlikon (Pfäffikon, Switzerland) has signed an agreement to acquire Sulzer’s (Winterthur, Switzerland) Metco division for an enterprise value of 1 billion Swiss francs ($1.1 billion), the companies announced today. A combination of Metco with Oerlikon’s coatings segment will create the world technology leader in surface solutions, Oerlikon says.
