Clariant's Quarterly Results Rise on Improved Demand and Higher Selling Prices

Clariant's third-quarter sales and profits rose compared to the year-ago period because of solid demand, higher selling prices, and cost reduction programs that were already in place. Net income soared to SF109 million ($111 million), including a one-time benefit of SF45 million, compared to income of SF25 million. Operating income before special items jumped 70%, to SF182 million, on sales up 1%, to SF1.7 billion. Revenues fell sequentially, showing the return to normal seasonality, Clariant says.
