Clariant reports first-quarter net loss on higher sales, confirms outlook

Clariant today reported a first-quarter net loss slightly increased sales and Ebitda margin and said it expects an increased Ebitda margin for the full year. Sales in Swiss francs were down 2%, to SF1.49 billion ($1.69 billion), but up 5% in local currencies compared with the year-earlier period. The 5% organic sales growth was driven by 4% higher volumes and an increase in prices of 1%. Ebitda margin reached 14.1% compared with 13.7% in the first quarter of 2013.   Clariant reports a net loss of SF39 million compared with a net profit of SF38 million...
