Ciba Plans Restructuring to Focus on Coatings, Plastics Additives, and Water

Ciba Specialty Chemicals says it is evaluating options for its underperforming paper chemical and its publication ink businesses, including a sale, joint ventures, and marketing and distribution alliances. The company also says it is planning a jv to expand its Mideast plastics additives capacity and is seeking acquisitions to bolster market share in its coating effects division, and that further details will be announced in the third quarter.
