Basell Eyeing BASF Styrenics Assets?

Basell is the previously undisclosed company that has submitted an initial offer to buy most of BASF’s commodity styrenics activities, sources tell CW (CW, July 25, p. 9). BASF announced recently that it is reviewing options for most of its styrenics business, and that it has received an offer from, and plans to start discussions with, an “interested party.” The activities under review generated sales of €3.2 billion ($4.37 billion) in 2006.
