Environmental Groups Sue ECHA for Withholding Names of Toxic Chemical Producers

Environmental law organisation ClientEarth (London) and chemicals watchdog ChemSec (Gothenburg, Sweden) have initiated legal proceedings against the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) for its refusal to release the names of chemical companies producing some of the most hazardous chemicals in the European Union (EU).   The lawsuit alleges several violations of European laws designed to promote transparency, democracy, and legitimacy in EU policy-making, ClientEarth says.   The chemicals in question are the 356 featured in the SIN (Substitute it...
