Regions :: Western Europe :: Sweden AstraZeneca to Close Three Plants; Cut 1400 Jobs by 20136:46 AM MST | November 20, 2008 | Deepti Ramesh Pharmaceutical major AstraZeneca says it will permanently close its three plants located at Destelbergen, Belgium; Porrino, Spain; and Umea, Sweden and the company also plans to cut jobs at its facilities at Macclesfield, UK and Södertälje, Sweden. This will result in a total of 1400 job cuts by 2013, AstraZeneca says. The move is part of its restructuring and efficiency improvement program, the company says. AstraZeneca plans to invest further in its plant at Wuxi, China to support the company’s continuing growth in the Asia/Pacific markets...
