AkzoNobel to close coil coatings plants in Sweden and Germany

AkzoNobel announced today that it is closing two coil coatings production sites, one at Gamleby, Sweden and the other at Nurnberg, Germany. Production at the Gamleby site will be folded into plants at Malmo, Sweden and Lipetsk, Russia, while production at the Nurnberg site will be folded into a plant at Hilden, Germany. The sites at Gamleby and Nurnberg will be fully shuttered by June 2015, AkzoNobel says. The company has not disclosed any cost savings associated with the closures.
