Ube to Expand Polycarbonate Diol Production in Spain

Ube says its Ube Chemical Europe (Castellon, Spain) subsidiary will open a second production line for polycarbonate diol (PCD) in response to rising global demand. The second production line is expected to come online in January 2012, and will increase the production capacity in Spain by 3,000 m.t./year. Ube manufacturers 2,000 m.t./year of PCD in Japan, and with the completion of the second production line, production capacity will increase to 6,000 m.t./year in Spain, making Ube the largest manufacturer of PCD in the world, the company says.
