Portugal Commissions Large PTA Plant

Artlant PTA (Sines, Portugal) has begun the commissioning process of its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Sines. The 700,000 m.t./year, Invista process plant, was built at a cost of more than €500 million ($722.3 million). Start up is expected in the fourth quarter of this year, following tests and product analyses. It is expected to generate revenues of more than €600 million/year, based on current prices.
