ECHA committees restrict NMP

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) says that its committee for risk assessment (RAC) has adopted an opinion on a Dutch proposal to restrict the manufacture and use of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (N-methyl pyrrolidone, NMP) under the European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) regulations. RAC has modified the conditions of the proposed restriction and concludes that it is the most effective EU-wide measure in terms of reducing the risk from NMP.
