Dutch biopolymers firm receives new financing to increase production

Rodenburg Biopolymers (Oosterhout, Netherlands), a producer of starch-based plastics, has received an unspecified cash injection from Brabant Development (BOM; Tilburg, Netherlands) and Navus Ventures (Maasland, Netherlands), BOM has announced. BOM and Navus took equal stakes in Rodenburg through the deal. Rodenburg will use the financing to increase production. The bioplastics market is expected to grow in Europe at 20%/year. Worldwide production of fully degradable plastics was 1.2 million m.t. in 2011 and is expected to reach 6 million m.t./year by 2016...
