DSM Profits Up on Higher Volumes and Selling Prices

DSM reported net income up 27%, to €162 million ($252 million), on sales up 10%, to €2.4 billion. Operating profits rose 23%, to 237 million. Selling price increases were “more than sufficient” to offset about a €50-million jump in feedstock and energy costs during the quarter, says CFO Rolf-Dieter Schwalb. Organic sales grew 14%, which was evenly spread over volumes and prices.
