Barentz Acquires a Controlling Stake in Food Ingredients Distributor

Barentz Europe (Hoofddorp, the Netherlands) will acquire a controlling stake in REWE Food Ingredients (RFI; Cologne) by January 1, 2012. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Barentz's sourcing of food ingredients in Asia for distribution in Europe. The exact size of the stake was not disclosed. RFI, founded in 1999, is a specialist in the trading of food ingredients sourced from Asia and the leading distributor of tartaric acid, malic acid, and sweeteners in Europe.
