Altana to Buy Wax Additives Unit from Clariant

Altana says its BYK Additives & Instruments unit will acquire most of Clariant’s Dick Peters (Denekamp, the Netherlands) wax additives business, for about €17.5 million ($22 million). Dick Peters generated 2007 sales of about €24 million. About €20 million of that will be absorbed into BYK, and Clariant will retain the rest, Altana adds. Altana will also take over the Denekamp production site and employ its 35 workers. Altana says it will integrate Dick Peter’s with its BYK Cera operation. The deal is pending antitrust regulatory...
