AkzoNobel's first-quarter net income up on lower financing costs

AkzoNobel registered €129 million ($178.3 million) in net income attributable to shareholders in the first quarter, up 45% year-on-year (YOY) mainly because of lower financing expenses. The result also reflects a positive volume and price-mix development in each of the company's three business segments, AkzoNobel says.
