Dow purchased the business as part of its acquisition of Rohm and Haas and has said that powder coatings is not a core business for Dow. The acquisition, expected to close in the second quarter of 2010 subject to approvals by antitrust authorities, will reinforce AkzoNobel's position as the global leading producer of powder coatings.
