AkzoNobel Converts Frankfurt Chlor-alkali Plant to Membrane Technology; Hikes Capacity

AkzoNobel is investing €140 million ($199.8 million) in a project to convert an outdated mercury process chlor-alkali plant at Frankfurt, Germany to membrane technology. The plant will at the same time be expanded by about 50% to 250,000 m.t./year of chlorine from the current 165,000 m.t./year.
