Regions :: Western Europe :: Netherlands Akzo to Cut Jobs at U.K. Coatings Plant8:05 AM MST | February 21, 2008 | Kerri Walsh Akzo Nobel says it will cut up to 109 jobs at its Darwen, U.K. industrial finishes plant. Akzo says it carried out a review of the site, and decided the plant was “no longer cost effective.” The company says it has proposed to transfer most of the jobs to its coatings plant at Malmo, Sweden by the end of this year. Between 15-20 sales and sales support jobs may remain in the U.K., Akzo says. The Darwen site employs about 650. Akzo did not detail any potential financial impacts by CW press time.
