Avantium and Alpla ink biobased PEF development deal

Renewable chemicals firm Avantium (Amsterdam) and leading plastics converter Alpla Werke Alwin Lehner have announced a joint development agreement for the development of biobased polyethylene furanoate (PEF) bottles. “With Alpla’s extensive and proven know-how in [polyethylene terephthalate] conversion, bottle design, and bottle manufacturing, Alpla will be a major contributor to accelerate the commercial rollout and industrialization of PEF," says Tom van Aken, CEO Avantium.
