Salix Pharmaceuticals and Cosmo Tech to merge

Salix Pharmaceuticals (Raleigh, NC) and Cosmo Pharmaceuticals (Lainate, Italy) have announced a definitive merger agreement under which Salix, a pharma company specializing in drugs used to treat gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, will combine with Cosmo Technologies (Cosmo Tech), a subsidiary of Cosmo. Salix will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Irish-domiciled Cosmo Tech, which will change its name to Salix Pharmaceuticals, plc and is expected to have its ordinary shares listed and traded on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the terms of the merger...
