Regions :: Western Europe :: Italy ENI Denies Permanent Closure of Porto Torres Cracker; Revises Plans for a Temporary Shutdown11:52 AM MDT | July 22, 2009 | Peter Mapleston ENI (Rome) has confirmed that it has no intention of closing its petrochemical complex at Porto Torres on the island of Sardinia, Italy on a permanent basis. But the company has had to alter recently announced plans for a temporary closure of the steam cracker that is the main operating unit at the site. Polimeri Europa, an ENI subsidiary, operates the Porto Torres complex. ENI is partly owned by the Italian government and the company's announcement at the beginning of this month that it would close the Porto Torres cracker temporarily caused a political storm...
