BASF to boost photoinitiator production in Italy

BASF will boost its photoinitiator production and efficiency at Mortara, Italy, through investments in its facilities there, the company announced today. The site is one of the largest in the world for the production of photoinitiators, the company says. BASF says it will invest €4.0–6.0 million ($5.5–8.3 million) for the project. Photoinitiators, added in very small quantities, speed up the drying process for ultraviolet (UV)-curable coatings, inks, and adhesives by triggering chemical reactions on exposure to UV light.
