Wacker reports higher fourth-quarter sales and earnings, full-year results are down on low polysilicon prices

Wacker Chemie today reported higher fourth-quarter sales and earnings but said that full-year results were down on those achieved in 2012. Strong demand and stable polysilicon prices led to a 7% rise in fourth-quarter group sales to €1.09 billion ($1.47 billion) with Ebitda climbing 18% to €158 million. Wacker reported sales of €4.48 billion for the full year, 3% down on 2012. The company cites lower prices for polysilicon and semiconductor wafers as the main reason for the decline. Price effects reduced group sales by some €370 million or 8%...
