Third-quarter Output Slows in Germany; VCI Maintains Full-Year Forecast

Output of chemicals decreased 2% in Germany during the third quarter of 2011 compared with the previous quarter, industry association VCI (Frankfurt) says. However, third-quarter production levels were 2.5% higher than in the corresponding period of 2010. The quarter-on-quarter decline reflects destocking by customers as a result of the global economic slowdown and concerns over the euro-zone debt crisis, VCI says.
