Styron acquires S-SBR production capacity rights from JSR

Styron and JSR (Tokyo) say that they have reached an agreement under which the former will acquire JSR’s production capacity rights for solution-polymerized styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR) at Styron’s Schkopau, Germany, site. S-SBR is used in producing high-performance tires and green tires with lower rolling resistance. JSR, in 2007, obtained the capacity rights to produce 30,000 m.t./year of S-SBR from Styron and started suppling the product to the European tire market.
