K 2013: Solvay introduces biobased engineering plastics

Solvay launched a cellulose acetate biobased plastic, manufactured using wood pulp—an entirely renewable resource obtained from SFI certified forests—at the K plastics fair, currently taking place in Düsseldorf.  This new and amorphous engineering plastic is a non-toxic material and will be marketed under the Ocalio brand name. Together with a biobased plasticizer, the biobased content of this range of compounds is currently 50%.
