K+S Posts Strong Operating Profits and Sales; Divestment Weighs on Net Result

K+S Group (Kassel, Germany), a fertilizer and salt producer, posted a 70% drop in second-quarter net profits compared with the same period of 2010, to €29 million on sales up 11%, to €1.05 billion. The net profit figure includes a €104-million impairment loss from the recently announced divestment of K+S's Compo garden fertilizer business.
