Ineos Styrenics to close EPS plant at Marl by end of the year

Ineos Styrenics intends to close production of expandable polystyrene (EPS) at its Marl, Germany, site at the end of the fourth quarter of this year, the company announced today. Ineos will begin discussions with employees and the works council to find alternative roles for the 65 people affected by this decision. Ineos cites declining demand from the European construction sector, which has suffered from adverse economic conditions. EPS is mainly used in the insulation of buildings.
