Industrial action at Germany's canal locks boosts petrochemical prices

Industrial action could lift prices of petrochemical products transported along rivers and canals in Germany, market sources say. Ver.di, a trade union, says it has appealed to the relevant government bodies to coordinate their actions to achieve a prompt resolution to the dispute. The industrial action, which has closed locks and disrupted traffic on Germany's navigable waterway system, is anticipated to continue until the evening of 30 August, Ver.di says.
