Clariant opens major innovation center in Germany, will seek small acquisitions

Clariant today officially opened a €100-million ($137.6 million) innovation center at the Höchst industrial park, near Frankfurt. The Clariant Innovation Center (CIC) was inaugurated by CEO Hariolf Kottmann in the presence of local politicians and other high-ranking guests. It is "by far Clariant's largest single investment," and will serve as a global hub for R&D, Kottmann said at the inauguration. The CIC, which took 18 months to complete, will focus on chemical research and process technology. The center has a total of 90 laboratories...
