Bayer reports higher sales and earnings, declines to comment on talks to sell BMS

Bayer today reported its first-quarter results, with net income rising close to 23%, to €1.42 billion ($1.97 billion), on sales 3% higher, at €10.6 billion. Ebitda before special items was 11.6% higher, at €2.74 billion. Core earnings per share increased by 14.7%, to €1.95. The company, meanwhile, has declined to comment on today’s Bloomberg report that it is contemplating selling its Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) division, which produces polyurethanes and polycarbonate, following an interest expressed by Evonik. “The official...
