Bayer reports drop in third-quarter net income, confirms outlook for 2012

Bayer today reported a 17.8% fall in third-quarter net income to €528 million ($682.2 million) on 11.5% higher sales at €9.67 billion. Core earnings per share advanced 7.1% to €1.20. Ebitda before special items improved 2.2% to €1.85 billion. The company confirmed earlier forecasts for the whole of 2012. “The upward trend in our life science businesses, HealthCare and CropScience, continued in the third quarter of 2012,” says Marijn Dekkers, Bayer’s chairman.
