BASF Seeks EU Approval for Fortuna, its Genetically Optimized Table Potato

BASF says its plant science unit today applied for European Union approval for its “genetically optimized table potato,” Fortuna. Fortuna has a wild potato’s natural protection to late blight, a disease causing severe problems in agriculture. Late blight potato disease is caused by the fungi-like pathogen Phytophthora infestans.
