BASF Consolidates Polyacrylamide Bead Production at U.K. Site, Closes U.S. Plant

BASF says it will consolidate production of polyacrylamide (PAM) beads at its Bradford, U.K. facility, where it is backintegrated to raw materials. It will, as part of the plan, close the PAM beads unit at Suffolk, VA in January next year. The closure will affect about 50 employees. Other production activities at the site are not affected by the shift in production, the company says. Significant investment will be made to increase and upgrade the PAM bead capacity at the Bradford site, which will become BASF’s supplier of the product to the global markets...
