Toray Signs Big Carbon Fiber Deal with Airbus; Mulls Plant in Europe

Toray Industries has signed a long-term basic agreement with European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) to supply carbon fiber prepregs primarily to Airbus over 15 years through 2025. The company declined to comment on reports in the Japanese media that the deal is worth Y300 billion ($3.2 billion). Toray has been supplying carbon fiber to EADS through third party prepreg manufacturers and the latest deal will enable it to supply a wider range of products directly, the company says.
