Strikes Halt Refining Operations in France

Eight of France's 12 refineries are offstream or operating well below capacity due to strike action across the country. Workers in many sectors, including refining, are protesting government pension reforms including plans to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. Meanwhile, dockers and other workers in the port of Marseille have blockaded crude oil terminals at Fos and Lavéra, cutting off crude supplies to refineries in protest over the way the government is planning to implement port-reform legislation.
