Solvay Reports Flat Net Income; PVC Demand in Europe Hits 'Rock Bottom'

The Solvay Group, including Rhodia, today reported a 6% drop in second quarter recurring Ebitda (Rebitda), to €565 million ($692.7 million), on flat sales of €3.33 billion. Adjusted net income was flat at €258 million. Sales of Solvay’s specialty polymers were up 9%, to €352 million, with Rebitda advancing 6%, to €105 million. Vinyls, however, recorded a drop in sales of 3%, to €645 million, with sales in Europe at €383 million. Sales of vinyls in Asia were 7% down, to €87 million, and in South America vinyls...
