Sanofi-Aventis Looks at More Acquisitions in 2010

Sanofi-Aventis (Paris) plans to acquire generic pharmaceuticals manufacturers in emerging markets and consumer healthcare firms this year, say press reports. Sanofi-Aventis invested a total of about €6.3 billion in acquisitions in 2009. The company plans to spend as much as €15 billion this year in acquisitions, reports add. While Sanofi-Aventis acquired several companies last year, other major pharma firms have been involved in mega acquisitions. Merck & Co. (Whitehouse Station, NJ) acquired Schering-Plough (Kenilworth, NJ) for about $41.1 billion...
