LyondellBasell to Close French Refinery

LyondellBasell intends to close permanently its 105,000-bbl/day refinery at Berre, France following an unsuccessful attempt to sell the asset (CW, June 6/13, p. 5). LyondellBasell, through its Compagnie Pétrochimique de Berre subsidiary, which operates the refinery, will initiate consultations this month with the plant’s works councils, “as defined under French law,” on the proposed closure.
